Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data we collect through the mika-autizam.rs website, why we collect it, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. We process your data in line with Serbia’s Personal Data Protection Act (Zakon o zaštiti podataka o ličnosti, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia) — the ZZPL.

2. What data we collect

The website is informational in nature. Using the app and starting an audio download also involves processing the technical data needed for these requests, as described in the section on Mika Guide for iOS. We process contact details and message content when you send them to us yourself:

Via the contact form: your name, email, phone number (optional), and the text of your message.
Technical data sent with your message: IP address and time of sending — for delivery and protection against misuse.

If you contact us directly (by email or phone), we process the data you provide on that occasion.

3. Purpose and legal basis

Purpose: to respond to your inquiry and, where needed, to arrange a counseling session.
Legal basis: your consent (which you give by checking the box in the form) and the steps we take at your request, in accordance with the ZZPL.

4. How long we keep data

We keep your data only as long as we need it to respond to your inquiry and handle any related correspondence — at most until that purpose is met or until you withdraw your consent. After that, we delete it.

5. Sharing and processors

We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. The website is hosted by a hosting provider (Adria Host), which acts as a processor: it keeps the site running and delivers our email. We do not transfer data abroad for advertising. The one exception is the chat assistant described in section 6, where your messages are processed by an AI service provider.

6. Chat assistant “Mika Assistant” (artificial intelligence)

The website offers an optional chat assistant called “Mika Assistant”. It is an AI assistant (not Katarina in person) that shares general information and helps you set up a free introductory conversation. It does not make diagnoses and does not give medical advice.

Message processing: the text you type is sent to the processor Anthropic PBC (the “Claude” service, USA) to generate a reply. In doing so, data may also be processed outside the Republic of Serbia and outside the EU, in the United States (USA). The transfer to the USA is based on your explicit consent (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR), or the EU standard contractual clauses used by the providers (Art. 46 GDPR).
Legal basis: your consent, which you give by starting the conversation (following the prior notice shown in the chat window).
Storage: conversations are not stored on our website and are not used for advertising. The conversation history stays in your browser only while the window is open and disappears when you refresh the page. To remember that you have accepted the notice, we use localStorage in your browser (a technical function that holds no personal data).
Read aloud (optional): each assistant reply has an audio button. Only when you click it yourself is the text of that reply sent to a processor — the speech-synthesis service ElevenLabs (USA) — which turns it into speech (here, too, data may be processed outside the Republic of Serbia and outside the EU, in the USA; legal basis as above: Art. 49(1)(a), or Art. 46 GDPR). Audio is generated only at your request, and nothing is stored — neither the text nor the resulting audio. If you never click the button, no text is sent to this service.
Please note: please don’t enter sensitive information (for example, a child’s health details or a national ID number — in Serbia, the JMBG). For personal matters, it’s best to book a free introductory conversation.

7. Cookies and tracking technologies

This website does not use cookies for tracking, profiling, or marketing (there is no Google Analytics or similar tools). To measure visits we use Plausible Analytics — a cookie-less service that stores no personal data (see section 11).

Fonts are hosted locally on our server — there are no calls to Google or other external services, so your IP address is not shared with third parties when the site loads.
To remember that you have closed the privacy notice, that you have set “Quiet view”, which script you selected (Cyrillic or Latin), and that you have dismissed the language notice, localStorage is used in your browser (a technical, essential function — it is not a tracking cookie and contains no personal data).
The web app Mika Guide stores your entries – e.g. names, the emergency/profile card, worksheets, and progress – exclusively locally in your device’s localStorage. This data is not transmitted to our server or to third parties and can be deleted at any time in the app via the “Delete local data” feature; an existing Mika+ unlock is kept as proof of purchase and is only removed by clearing your browser data.

Since we do not use tracking cookies, no cookie consent banner is needed.

8. Your rights

In accordance with the ZZPL, you have the right to:

access your data and receive information about its processing;
correct inaccurate data and complete incomplete data;
erase data (the “right to be forgotten”);
restrict processing and object to processing;
data portability;
withdraw your consent at any time (without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (Poverenik za informacije od javnog značaja i zaštitu podataka o ličnosti; Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 15, Belgrade; poverenik.rs).

9. Security

The website loads over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its date, is always available on this page.

11. Web analytics (Plausible Analytics)

To measure how this website is used, we use the privacy-friendly analytics service Plausible Analytics (Plausible Insights OÜ, Västriku tn 2, 50403 Tartu, Estonia – EU). Plausible works without cookies and stores no personal data: only aggregated statistics are collected (e.g. pages visited, approximate country of origin, device type, referral source). IP addresses are not stored, no user profiles are created, and individual visitors cannot be recognized across days. All data is processed exclusively on servers within the EU. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in analyzing the reach of this website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). As no cookies are set and no personal data is stored, no consent is required.

12. Payment processing (Mika+)

Purchase via the website: The optional, paid add-on Mika+ is billed through external payment service providers: Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2, Ireland, and PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg. You enter your payment details (e.g. card number, PayPal login) exclusively on the respective payment provider’s own pages; we ourselves never receive or store your full payment details. From the payment provider we receive only the information needed to process your purchase and issue a receipt (in particular payment confirmation, your name, email address, and the product purchased). The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract for Mika+, in accordance with the ZZPL. Stripe and PayPal are based in the European Union (Ireland and Luxembourg respectively) and process data under their own privacy rules (GDPR); some processing may take place outside the EU (for example in the USA), in which case the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards apply. For more information, see the privacy policies of Stripe and PayPal.

Purchase in the iOS or Android app: Purchasing Mika+ within the app is billed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive any payment data in the process. To verify and restore your purchase status, we use RevenueCat, Inc., 1100 Sansome St, San Francisco, CA 94111, USA. This involves processing a pseudonymous user identifier and purchase receipt data. The transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract for Mika+, in accordance with the ZZPL.

Audio in Mika Guide for iOS

The Mika Guide iOS app downloads prerecorded audio only when you start a language-pack download in the app. The files are downloaded over an encrypted connection from our web server www.mika-autism.com, hosted by STRATO. The server receives your IP address and the names of the requested audio files. Your personal entries, profiles and checklists are not sent in these requests. Audio downloads do not use cookies. Once downloaded successfully, the files are stored on your device and can be played without another internet request. An updated language pack may require a new download.

Your personal entries in the native app remain on your device. You can choose to send selected content to other apps or people using the share function. RevenueCat is set up for purchase management when the app starts; purchase-status checks may take place even if you have never purchased Mika+, and when you return to the app. These checks process technical data, an app user identifier assigned by RevenueCat and, where applicable, purchase receipt data. Your personal Guide entries are not sent to RevenueCat for these checks.
