Autism counseling

For families, preschools, schools and institutions – in person and online. After a diagnosis, when everyday challenges arise, or ahead of important transitions: professional counseling brings understanding, structure and relief.

Behavior is communication.

I accompany children, young people and their families – professionally, with respect and from my own lived experience. The work is always adapted to the child and the family: it is not about the child "functioning," but about understanding them and supporting them in developing their strengths.

a) Individual counseling and support

  • Individual work with children and young people grounded in autism-focused educational principles
  • Planning structure and behavior (visualizations, routines, "first – then")
  • Developing social and communication skills
  • Support with sensory overload, transitions and challenging behavior
  • Additionally: Tellington TTouch for you® as a gentle method that can support relaxation and self-regulation

b) Counseling for parents and family

When a child lives on the autism spectrum, families often face particular challenges – in everyday life, in social relationships, at preschool and school. I accompany families not only professionally, but also from personal experience: I am myself the mother of a child on the spectrum.

  • Counseling conversations for parents and close family members
  • Guidance on understanding and responding to your child's behavior
  • Developing helpful routines and structures for everyday life
  • Building understanding and acceptance among the people around you

c) Cooperation with preschool, school and professionals

  • Professional exchange and cooperation with institutions
  • Developing individual support plans
  • Attending meetings as needed

Framework and way of working

  • Location: flexible – online and in person by arrangement
  • Scope: individually as needed (e.g., 1–2 sessions per week of 60 minutes each)
  • Languages: Serbian, German, Croatian and English
  • Documentation: written progress notes and, if needed, a final report

Who it is for – and who it is not for

An honest look at when this support is the right fit, and when another path is better.

✓ The right fit if…

  • you have a child or young person on the autism spectrum (or where autism is suspected)
  • you are looking for support after a diagnosis or ahead of important transitions (preschool, school)
  • you are dealing with sensory overload and challenging behavior
  • you need structure, routines, and strategies for everyday life
  • you are a school, preschool, or institution that needs professional support

Not the right fit if…

  • you are seeking a medical diagnosis or treatment (these are carried out by doctors and specialists)
  • you need urgent or crisis intervention
  • you expect a "quick fix" or for autism to be "cured"
  • you are looking for ABA therapy — my approach is child-led and neurodiversity-affirming
All conversations are confidential. Sharing with third parties (school, preschool) only with your consent. The approach is respectful, child-led, and neurodiversity-affirming.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions parents and institutions ask most often.

Who is counseling for?
For families with children and young people on the autism spectrum (or where autism is suspected), as well as for preschools, schools and institutions that need professional support. I work with parents and close family members, and, by arrangement, individually with the child.
Does there have to be a diagnosis?
No. Counseling is also possible before a diagnosis is made, during a phase of uncertainty or doubt. Counseling is not a medical diagnosis or treatment – diagnostics are carried out by doctors and specialists.
What language does counseling take place in?
Counseling is available in Serbian, German, Croatian and English, according to your preference.
Does counseling take place in person or online?
Both are possible. Sessions are arranged flexibly: online via video call, and in person by arrangement. Together we choose whatever suits you best.
Counseling is not an emergency or crisis intervention. If you or your child are in immediate danger, contact the emergency services: 112 (general emergency number) · 194 (ambulance) · 192 (police).
